PRYOR – Led by three gold medals each, both Grove track teams finished in the top-five at the Pryor High School Track Invitational on Tuesday.
The Lady Ridgerunners finished in third place as a team with 119 points. Skiatook won the team title with 144 points while Coweta was second with 137.
Grove also won the 3200-meter relay with a time of 10:46.1, while also finishing second in the 800-meter relay and third in both the 1600 and 400 relays.
Teammate Lily Jeffires finished second behind Bechtol in the pole vault with a height of 9-0, while Ashleigh Tramel also had a second place finish in the 400-meter dash.
Michaela Werner brought home two silver medals, finishing second behind Stilwell’s Sydney Lawrence in both the 1600 and the 3200.
Rounding out the medals for the Lady Ridgerunners was Madison Miller’s third place finish in the 100 meters, while Paige Stanphill finished sixth in the 800.
The boys finished fourth as a team with 110 points, led by Ryan Wheatley’s pair of first place finishes. Coweta won the team title with 154 points, followed by Pryor with 130 and Skiatook with 111 points.
Wheatley finished ahead of Coweta’s Coty Fox in winning both the 800 and 1600. Wheatley’s time of 2:05.38 in the 800 edged Fox by almost three seconds, while his 4:50.49 in the 1600 edged Fox by less than half a second.
The Ridgerunners also got an individual gold from Matt Jeffries, who cleared 12-6 to win the pole vault event.
Grove also got a win in the 3200-meter relay, finishing three seconds ahead of Coweta, while the Tigers returned the favor in the 1600, edging the Ridgerunners by just over two seconds.
Javier Lara added a second place finish in the 400 meters, while Derek Pigsley finished sixth in the 3200.
Grove won the rest of their medals in the field events, with John Tune picking up a fifth place finish in the pole vault and a second place finish in the long jump. Braxton Miller (fourth) and Garrett Sisco (sixth) also medaled in the long jump, while Will Clark and Dakota Gray picked up third and sixth place finishes in the shot put.
In the discus Rocky Jeffries finished second while Forryst McDonald won fourth.
Grove track will compete again at Wagoner on March 29.
