Ridgerunners take on conference meet

RIDGERUNNERS TAKE ON CONFERENCE MEET

 

The Ridgerunner track teams participated at the Metro Lakes Conference track meet on Thursday, May 1, at Tahlequah High School. The day proved prosperous and claimed many conference championships.

Lady Ridgerunner Results

For the ladies Michaela Werner was champion in both the 1600 and 3200 runs. She also was a member of the second place 4x800 meter relay team. Other relay members were Josie Eubanks, Kelsea Gorham, and Paige Stanphill. Keely McLaughlin also was a two-time champion in both the shot put and the discus. Lacey Records finished 3rd in the discus.

In the high jump Emilee Iverson claimed her 4th straight conference championship with a jump of 5’4. She also placed sixth in the 400 dash. Lily Jeffries was the pole vault champion with a vault of 9’6. Iverson, Eubanks, Madison Miller, and Carleigh Johnson placed fourth in the 4x400 relay and Kira Armstrong finished fifth in the 800 run.

Men’s Results

The men competed well Isaac Jimenez dominated the discus and he was named the conference champion. Also placing for the Ridgerunners were the following: Javier Lara – 4th 800 run, Matt Jeffries – fourth pole vault, Will Clark – sixth shot put, and Derek Pigsley - third 3200 run.

The boys also finished well in the relays. The 4x200 relay team of Clayton Honeycutt, Garrison Hale, Braxton Miller, and Mikel Hodges finished third. The 4x400 relay team of Clayton Honeycutt, Matt Jeffries, Garrison Hale, and Javier Lara finished fourth as did the 4x800 team of Lara, Jeffries, Harley Apperson, and Jake Ingle.

Freshman Results

Will Amos ran for his first conference championship in the ninth grade 400 dash as did Josh Poole in the 800 run. Also claiming a championship was Gavin Honeycutt in the ninth grade pole vault. Placing third in the mile was Nate Lopez. Brady Phillips captured second in the ninth grade long jump and Curtis Duncan finished third place in the ninth grade discus.

The ninth grade relay teams fared well as they claimed two championships in the 4x400 and the 4x800 relays and finished third in the 4x200 relay and fifth in the 4x100 relay. The 4x400 members were: Brady Phillips, Jesse Martin, Josh Poole, and Will Amos. Amos, Poole, and Phillips also teamed up with Nate Lopez in to win the 4x800 relay. The 4x100 and 4x200 members were as follows: Gavin Honeycutt, Coleman Bayless, Curtis Duncan, and Jesse Martin
