Doing most of their damage in the field events, the Grove Ridgerunners finished second in their first track meet of the year at the Wagoner Invitational Friday.
The Ridgerunners went 1-2 in the discus, with Jimenez taking the gold medal and Dominic Flores the silver. Will Clark added a second place finish in the shot put while Braxton Miller finished fifth in the high jump.
On the track the Ridgerunners finished second in the 3200-meter relay while Javier Lara finished third in the 800 meters and Clayton Honeycutt added a fifth place finish in the 400.
Jay’s Chase Brock picked up a win in the 3200 meters for the Bulldogs, finishing in a time of 10:33. Brock also finished fourth in the 1600.
On the girls’ side the Lady Ridgerunners got wins in the five individual events on Friday, with senior Michaela Werner winning both the 1600 and 3200 meters.
Werner lapped the field in winning the 3200 in a time of 11:23.17 and won the 1600 in a time of 5:32.13.
Emilee Iverson won the high jump with a height of 5-4, while Lily Jeffries won the pole vault with a height of 9-0.
Newcomer Keely McLaughlin won the discus with a throw of 123-8, more than 17 feet ahead of the second place finisher.
