Area football teams will see some unfamiliar faces when they begin the 2014 football season after the new football districts were released by the Oklahoma Secondary Schools Activities Association on Wednesday.
The districts received final approval from the OSSAA's Board of Directors during their October meeting Wednesday.
Grove will welcome Tulsa Edison back into 5A-4 in 2014. The Eagles are dropping down after two years in 6A. Prior to that, they were in 5A-4 for the 2010 and 2011 seasons.
Edison will replace Claremore, which moved up to Class 6A.
District 5A-4 will only have seven teams, with Capitol Hill of Oklahoma City dropping its football program, leaving Class 5A with 31 teams. The Ridgerunners will have to find a fourth non-district game for the 2014 and 2015 seasons.
