LONDAGIN ENDS SENIOR CAREER AT STATE WITH A BIRDIE, BIRDIE
Senior Spencer Londagin of Grove High School shot a 54-hole total of 83-83-78 & -244 at the Class 5A state golf tournament, which was held at Lawton & Fort Sill Golf Club on May 12-13.
"I was very happy for Spencer as a senior to qualify for state", said Jason Geer, GHS boys and golf coach. After picking up golf as a freshman, he has spent many hours practicing and playing to get where he finished. His first swing coach, Sean O'Grady, told him to be patient and that his golf game come together. He was rewarded as a state qualifier.
A special note is that Londagin finished his high school golf career with a Birdie, Birdie finish at the state tournament on his 53rd and 54th holes. Greer said not many high school golfers can boast that accomplishment.
"Spencer is a tremendous young man and I am extremely proud to have coached him over the past six seasons in basketball and four years in golf", said Geer. "He has been one of kind as far as character, hard work and positive attitude toward his teachers, coaches and classmates".
Having coached for 12 years, all at Grove, I have never encountered such a unique student-athlete anywhere. I am very proud to have had the opportunity to coach him. If there is a student-athlete I would want my own children to be like, it would be Spencer. I don't think you can give a better complement to a person, than to say you would want your children to model. He will be missed, but not forgotten.
