Grove girls finish 3rd at Miami track meet
The Grove Lady Ridgerunners picked up four first place finishes and finished third as a team at the Miami Invitational track meet Tuesday.
Iverson set a season-high and matched her career best with a height of 5-6, while Werner, who also picked up a second place finish in the 1600, won the 3200 for the fourth time in five meets this season.
The Grove girls also picked up a pair of fourth place finishes from Ashleigh Tramel in the 400 and 800 meters, as well as top-five finishes in the 400, 800, 1600 and 3200 relays.
Vinita won the team title with 136 points, followed by Tahlequah (98 points) and Grove (92 points).
On the boys’ side the Ridgerunners finished fifth overall, getting another win in the 3200-meter relay.
John Tune finished first in the long jump and second in the pole vault for Grove, while also finishing sixth in the 400 meters.
The Jay Bulldogs got a fourth and a sixth place finish from Taylor Foster in the long jump and the high jump, respectively, while Luke Smith finished fourth in the 1600 and set a personal best while finishing third in the 3200
