The Grove Ridgerunners will finish the baseball regular season with an unusual day on Monday.
The Ridgerunners will travel to Claremore to take on Coweta at 11 a.m. before returning home in the evening to play Skiatook at 4:30.
Now it’s just a matter of who will join them. The four-team regional will feature a second team from 5A-3 along with two teams from District 5A-4.
The third place team from 5A-4 will take on the sixth place team from 5A-3 in the first round of regional play, while Grove, as the second place team in 5A-3, will take on the seventh place team in 5A-4. As of now, Tulsa Central and Oklahoma City Northwest are tied for seventh with 0-12 marks in district play.
Third place in 5A-4 belongs to McAlester, who defeated Grove 14-4 earlier this month at the Tiger-Zebra Classic in Claremore. But following Grove in 5A-3 is a muddled mess, with Coweta (6-6), Tulsa Washington (6-7), Collinsville (6-7), Tahlequah (5-7) and Skiatook (5-8) all able to finish anywhere from third to seventh depending on how Monday’s games shake out.
Remaining games: Coweta vs. Grove at Claremore, 11 a.m.; Coweta vs. Tahlequah at Claremore, 1 p.m.; Tahlequah at Claremore, 4 p.m.; Skiatook at Grove, 4:30 p.m.; Collinsville at Tulsa Washington, 5 p.m. (Note: Washington led Collinsville 12-11 in the sixth inning and the game will be completed from that point.)
