CENTRAL LOSES HEARTBRAKER

PEORIA — Quarterback Walker Stillman rushed for two touchdowns and Josh Parker added another score on the ground, but it wasn’t enough in the Big 12 opener for the Maroons, who suffered their first loss of the season. Central was tied with the Irish at 21 until midway through the fourth quarter when Peoria Notre Dame scored the eventual game-winning touchdown. Central fell behind 14-0 early in the second quarter, but battled back to make the game meaningful deep into the second half. “Our kids expected to win the game,” Central coach Nate Albaugh said. “They are extremely disappointed that we didn’t. They want nothing to do with morale victories. We’re right there. We’re anxious to keep playing and start winning.”
