HUTCH HIGH SENIORS QUALIFY FOR NATIONALS

A pair of debaters at Hutch High qualified for nationals Saturday in Lyons. Seniors Julia Henry and Zoë Crater finished undefeated and place first at the West Kansas National Speech and Debate Association policy debate qualifying tournament at Lyons High School. Nationals will be in June at Salt Lake City. “It was a great weekend for the Salthawks with three HHS teams advancing to day two in the tournament,” said Zach Brown, HHS head debate and forensics coach. “This is the result of individual hard work and a great team effort from everyone in support. Thanks to our coaching staff and for everyone who contributed to the cause.” HHS finishes out the pre-Christmas schedule on Friday and Saturday, competing in the four-speaker regional debate tournament at Topeka High School.
