JV VOLLEYBALL TOPS SETON, 2-0

In close contests on Tuesday evening, October 6, the JV volleyball squad beat the Elizabeth Seton Roadrunners in two straight sets to win their match with scores of 25-19 for each set. While the Cardinals had the edge for the first set, the Roadrunners built a significant lead with able serving and well-positioned hits in the second set. The JV Cardinal squad dug in and rallied back to win the set and match. Leading in sets to assist for points were Jackie Bewick, with 7; Sophia Krikorian, with 3; and Casey Hoffman, with 2. Kills leading to scores were played by Grace McCaffery, with 4; Kat Conway, Sophia Krikorian, and Margaret Virostek, each with 3; and Katie Becht, Jackie Bewick, and Sabrina Zakhem, each with 1. Aces were served by Annamaria Costanzo, with 3; Katie Becht, Jackie Bewick, and Casey Hoffman, each with 2; and Sophia Krikorian, Margaret Virostek, and Sabrina Zakhem, each with 1. Net play with impressive blocks were scored by Georgie Anderson and Cate McGlynn, both with 2. Next up: St. Johns College High School Cadets visit Godley Gym for their second match with the Cardinals. Cardinal boosters will be making chili and mac/cheese dinner for sale starting at 4:15 for this match. Coming attractions: Thursday, October 22 – Cardinal Dig Pink Night, featuring gift basket raffles, bake sale and great homemade food to support cancer awareness and recovery. Friday, October 23 – Cardinal Senior Night, to honor seniors on both teams, in our final home game of the season.
