At noon today our Democracy Prep Endurance Flag Football team took on FLI and won a hard fought, back and forth, game 38-30. They improved their record to 2-0. On the very first drive of the game quarterback Diadys "Primetime" Cepeda found slot receiver Migdalia "Quezada with surgical precision for a long touchdown, her second on the season. After an interception return for a touchdown by the other team, Eliezer "Shake and Bake" Hernandez and Aboubacar "BooBoo" Diaby both caught TD passes from Cepeda to keep the Dragons in the game on a day where the defense struggled against the run in the first half. The defense, anchored by Xavier "X-Factor" Davis in the middle, showed grit in the second half making key stops and containing the run that had plagued them in the first half. A key pick six by Diaby then tied the game for the Dragons and a safety caused by tight defense proved to be the difference in the game. Excellent defensive games were also played by Lucas "Sleepy" Machado and Giovanni "Twiggy" Rivera With only seconds left in the game, Coach Brandon Werner, noticing a relaxed defense, called a brilliant run play to Hernandez that went the entire length of the field for a touchdown, sealing the game for the Dragons.
